Pollution- A Threat To Our Existence | Essay | Sanghatikid

Environment is the surroundings of an organism. This is made up of air, water, soil etc. These elements are in a balanced proportion. Any kind of unexpected change can cause pollution.

Unhygienic conditions of living has led the rise in pollution. Good agriculture and industry are taken as an indicator of development. But these are causing more pollution and using the natural resources in a reckless manner. The industries are pouring and dumping harmful chemicals and wastes in water and soil, causing water and soil pollution. The farmers are throwing leftover chemical fertilizers. These poisonous substances are destroying air, marine life in water, other plants in land etc. Sabarmati river, Ganga river and Yamuna rivers have been found to be excessively polluted. Yamuna is known as 'Open Drain'.

Vehicles and heavy traffic are also causing pollution. the poisonous gas is emitted from the vehicles which is causing air pollution. Heavy traffics, high loudspeakers etc are causing noise pollution. This is really harmful for senior citizens and children. firecrackers during Diwali and other festivals cause a lot of air pollution.

Thus, there are various kinds of pollution. Problems like global warming, greenhouse effect, ozone depletion, melting of glaciers etc are great threats to environment. But they are increasing day by day for pollution.

We should not create pollution. We should plant more and more trees. we should use organic manure instead of chemical fertilizers to prevent soil pollution. We should use cloth or jute bags instead of plastic bags. There are many ways to prevent pollution.

The world will be at danger if you don't control pollution. Franklin D Roosevelt, former American President rightly told:

" A nation that destroys its soil, destroys itself".
